Why do businesses choose forward-facing dash camera views over other options?
We offer a variety of camera views at SureCam, with the road-facing-only dash cam being one of our most popular options. Customers who choose a forward-facing dash camera are primarily concerned with capturing high-quality video evidence of road-facing incidents while maintaining the trust and privacy of their employees. This is also our most cost-effective dash cam option, so great for getting employees comfortable with having a connected dash cam record while they're driving.
Our road-facing dash cameras do not have a microphone or a secondary lens to capture footage from inside the vehicle. Dash cam footage will only be of the road ahead.
Is a front-facing dash cam enough for evidence, or do I need a dual dash cam?
A front-facing dash cam is enough! Many fleets opt for a forward-facing connected dash camera solution instead of a front and rear camera setup. Front-facing dash cams help resolve liability when incidents occur, alert safety managers to harsh driving, and provide opportunities for driver coaching on-road awareness. Rear cameras are great to have too but are not always necessary for evidence to hold up. If a collision occurs in the rear or side of the vehicle, forward-facing dash cams can often still resolve liability without the need for rear dash cams.
Due to the connected nature of the dash camera, fleet operators get instant notifications when incidents occur, often enabling them to send the video evidence directly to the driver to aid in the information gathering for the police report.
How quickly can I access and view video from SureCam dash cameras?
Event Video: This is video that is captured when a g-force or alert-based event takes place. For example, if you want to capture dash cam video when harsh braking or excessive speeding events occur, this is considered an event video. These videos are automatically uploaded to the SureCam platform and available for you to review and download for up to 60 days.
Continuous Video: This is the historic minute-by-minute video that is recorded while your vehicles are running. SureCam devices come standard with 50 hours of continuous video storage, so after 50 hours of drive time, this video records over itself. You can easily view continuous video from the SureCam platform as long as it is still available on your device.
Real-Time Video: This is optional live video that is available to you while your vehicles are turned on and connected to the cellular network. You must adjust settings to have SureCam LiveCheck enabled on your account to access the real-time video.
Can I access dash cam video even if a harsh driving incident did not occur?
Absolutely! Harsh driving triggered videos, referred to as Event Videos, are great for quickly responding to incidents and ultimately identifying and correcting risky driving behaviors before accidents occur. But there are other reasons that you may want access to video outside of a harsh driving event and we make this video, referred to as Continuous Video, available for you to access remotely from the SureCam platform.
