Why do companies choose forward-facing dash cameras over other options/views?
At SureCam, we provide a range of camera views, and our road-facing-only dash cam is a top choice. Customers opting for this forward-facing dash camera mainly focus on recording high-quality footage of incidents occurring in front of the vehicle, while also respecting their employees' privacy and trust. This option is also the most economical, making it ideal for helping employees get used to being recorded by a connected dash cam while driving.
Our road-facing dash cams are designed without a microphone or an interior lens, ensuring that the footage captured is solely of the road ahead.
Does a front-facing dash camera for commercial vehicles provide enough evidence to absolve claims, or do I need other views, like a dual dash cam?
A forward-facing dash cam is often sufficient! Many fleets choose a forward-facing connected dash camera rather than a front and rear camera setup. Front-facing dash cams are effective in determining liability in incidents, alerting safety managers about harsh driving, and offering chances for driver coaching in road awareness. While rear cameras are beneficial, they're not always essential for maintaining solid evidence. In cases of rear or side collisions, forward-facing dash cams can often clarify liability without needing rear dash cams.
Thanks to the dash cam's connected nature, fleet operators receive immediate alerts about incidents. This often allows them to quickly share video evidence with the driver, assisting in gathering information for the police report.
How quickly can I access and view video from SureCam dash cameras?
You can typically watch videos from your SureCam devices almost immediately. SureCam provides three types of video:
Event Video: This type records when there's a significant g-force or alert-triggered event, like harsh braking or excessive speeding. These videos are automatically uploaded to the SureCam platform and are accessible for review and download for up to 60 days.
Continuous Video: This records minute-by-minute footage while your vehicles are operational. SureCam devices have a standard storage capacity for 50 hours of continuous video. Once this limit is reached, the oldest footage is overwritten. This video can be accessed from the SureCam platform as long as it's still on your device.
Real-Time Video: This is an optional live stream available when your vehicles are on and connected to the cellular network. You need to have SureCam LiveCheck activated on your account to use this feature.
Can I access and view dash cam video even if a harsh driving incident has not occurred?
What happens to my dash cam video if my vehicle travels out of range of the cellular network?
Don't worry; your video and data continue to be recorded even if your vehicle goes temporarily out of cellular network range. Once your vehicle returns to an area with network coverage, your SureCam device will reconnect, upload the videos, and update the tracking data on our cloud-based platform.
