Frequently Asked Questions
Why do businesses choose dash cams with waterproof rear cameras over other options?
We offer a variety of camera views at SureCam, with the waterproof rear camera as our most popular option for customers wanting to capture video evidence in the case of front and rear-end collisions. This option does not include an interior camera, making it driver-friendly if privacy is a concern.
While this camera configuration offers maximum coverage for the most common types of road incidents, our customers also find this particular view helpful for monitoring work-related activities that take place at the rear of the vehicle -- such as loading, unloading, and securing equipment.
There is a lot of flexibility when mounting the waterproof exterior dash cam, allowing you to capture the exact secondary view from outside of the vehicle that matters most to you.
What views are available with the waterproof dash cam?
The external waterproof dash cam can be mounted virtually anywhere on the vehicle, so the view that you capture is entirely up to you. The only consideration to note is that the waterproof camera is fixed on the vehicle. It is not meant to attach and detach as a standard part of its use.
The most common views are rear and side-rear views, with the passenger side being the most common side-rear view chosen due to blind spot concerns.
Can video captured by dash cameras be used for insurance claims and accident litigation?
If you would like to dive deeper into the legal perspective of video telematics, you might be interested in this discussion with a commercial motor vehicle accident trial attorney.
How much does a connected dash cam with a waterproof rear camera cost?
We like to keep things simple and straightforward at SureCam, so we wrap all of your hardware, software, and data costs into one affordable monthly subscription. You can view our road-facing dash camera with additional side/rear camera pricing here.
How quickly can I access and view video from SureCam dash cameras?
Event Video: This is video that is captured when a g-force or alert-based event takes place. For example, if you want to capture video when harsh brakes or excessive speeding events occur, this is considered an event video. These videos are automatically uploaded to the SureCam platform and available for you to review and download for up to 60 days.
Continuous Video: This is the historic minute-by-minute video that is recorded while your vehicles are running. SureCam devices come standard with 50 hours of continuous video storage, so after 50 hours of drive time, this video records over itself. You can easily view continuous video from the SureCam platform as long as it is still available on your device.
Real-Time Video: This is optional live video that is available to you while your vehicles are turned on and connected to the cellular network. You must have SureCam LiveCheck enabled on your account to access the real-time video.
